Quarantine Epistles 84

Pastor Chris’ Corona Quarantine Epistles to the Flock of AIC Ngong Road, in Dispersion and Isolation. 84th. Edition.

Dear Priests (and Priestesses) of the Royal Priesthood,

Today’s passage (1 John 3:8-9) is a continuation of the theme we dealt with in the previous passage. John wants us to understand that there is a clear separation between the domain of the devil and that of God.  The Devil and Sin, (v. 8). The devil is the originator of sin. Jesus says of him that he “was a murderer from the beginning,” and that when he lies, “he speaks his native language” (John 8:44, NIV).
Put in everyday language, when the devil lies, he speaks his mother-tongue. whenever you encounter sin, never be in doubt about its origin. Not only is the devil the originator and perpetrator of sin, but the very purpose of the Lord’s coming into the world was to destroy the works of the devil. The Lord cannot be a party to the very essence he came to destroy. That implies that anyone who is in Christ is part of the effort to destroy the works of the devil and so cannot be part of them.

The Divine Seed (v. 9). A person who is born of God has God’s seed in him/her. In modern parlance, the DNA of God is in him/her. Since God is holy, it follows that a person who carries his seed is also holy. Such a person cannot wallow in sin and be comfortable with it. No, the person born of God will gravitate naturally towards righteousness, because it is in his/her DNA.
It is contrary to the nature of a believer to be comfortable with sin.

Your Loving Pastor Chris.
