The Desire of God. 1 Timothy 2:3-4.
This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, Who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Dear Family,
We examine a little more, the command to pray for all people and especially for rulers. Paul now tells us why he wants Christians to pray.
Devine Delight (v. 3). Paul says that it pleases God when we pray for others. Someone has said that before we talk to people about God, we should talk to God about the people. A lot of human efforts fail or result in worse conditions than before, because God was not in the efforts. Christians should pray about all things so that God can intervene. A good question for Kenyans to ask themselves right now is, have I prayed about BBI? We all have our opinion about it, but have we prayed?
Devine Desire (v. 4). The reason God wants us to pray for others is that he wants “all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” God does not just want an orderly world. He wants a world that knows the truth that saves. If the whole world were to yield to the saving power of Christ, then the Kingdom of God would be perfected on earth. We know that this will not happen in this age, but we can do our best to bring Christ to as many as we possibly can. But before we tell them about Christ, let us pray for them.
Your Loving Pastor Chris.
