Dead yet Alive.Galatians 2:20-21
Dear Pilgrims,
Having declared that he is dead to the law and alive to God, Paul now expounds further, the idea of dying to one realm and living to another.
Nailed (v. 20a).Crucifixion is a portrayal of not only of death but also of the nailing of something to a post. Paul is saying that his old sinful self that was bound to the law by guilt has been pinned to the cross. That side of him is dead.
New (vv. 20b – 21). The Christian has new life coursing through him. This life is by Christ himself, who lives his life in the believer. It has been said (and it is true) that the Christian life is impossible. Unless Christ lives his life in us, the best we can do is pretend. Simply put, a true Christian is a walking miracle. It is either that, or we are living one big lie, making it look like Christ died for nothing.
