Quarantine Epistles 17

Quarantine Epistles
Pastor Chris’ Corona Quarantine Epistles to the Flock of AIC Ngong Road, in Dispersion and Isolation. 17th. Edition. Dear Children of the Heavenly King, Yesterday we saw how the Beast will deceive people and establish a religion around himself.  This is something that the readers of John understood well.  Rome practiced emperor worship, an evil man who persecuted Christians.  The truth is, a man wants to be worshipped, we are in competition with God for glory – and that is our undoing. In verses 4-10 of Revelation 13, the Beast and the dragon are worshipped together.  For 42 months (3½ years), the Beast has sway, blaspheming and boasting, persecuting the saints and lording it over everyone. Everyone on earth will worship him, except those whose names are written in the Lamb’s…

Quarantine Epistles
Pastor Chris’ Corona Quarantine Epistles to the Flock of AIC Ngong Road, in Dispersion and Isolation. 16th. Edition. Dear Heirs of the Riches of Heaven, Yesterday we began our limited examination on the teachings of the Bible about End Times, in response to numerous questions that have been raised by posts and forwards on social media.  I promised you yesterday that we would look at the “horns and heads” of the Beast in Revelation 13:1. If we go back to Daniel 7:7-8 where the horns are first mentioned, we will observe that the horns are on the fourth beast. Interpreters have generally seen the four beasts of Daniel 7 as representative of four empires – Babylonia, Persia, Greece, and Rome, in that order.  The fourth beast – Rome, is the one…

Quarantine Epistles
Pastor Chris’ Corona Quarantine Epistles to the Flock of AIC Ngong Road, in Dispersion and Isolation. Dear Beloved of the Highest, These are interesting times.  You may have come across the joke, told of a lady who was asked by the husband to pick up a loaf of bread from the shops.  She went into the bathroom first and when she came out ten minutes later, her whole face was covered in avocado paste.  “What is the meaning of this?” her husband asked.  “Have you not been watching TV?” She quipped.  “The government has told us to wear masks when we leave the house.”It is day 15 and Theresa and I are still fine and healthy, Hallelujah! I interrupt our studies in Philippians in order to address the issue of…

Quarantine Epistles 14

Quarantine Epistles
Pastor Chris’ Corona Quarantine Epistles to the Flock of AIC Ngong Road, in Dispersion and Isolation. 14th. Edition. Dear Elect of God, Today marks the final day of my COVID-19 quarantine ordeal. It proves, among other things, that two people can be locked up in fairly confined spaces and not kill each other – just kidding! This would also conclude the life of the epistles, but I have a mind to continue, seeing as people have found them profitable. Yesterday we saw in Philippians 1:9-11 that the focus of Paul’s prayer for the Christians is their spiritual growth. Today, we begin a new section, dealing with Paul’s perspective of his imprisonment. He kicks the section off positively in verses 12&13. In verse 12, he says that everything that has happened to…

Quarantine Epistles 13

Quarantine Epistles
Pastor Chris’ Corona Quarantine Epistles to the Flock of AIC Ngong Road, in Dispersion and Isolation. 13th. Edition. Dear Saints,  Yesterday we looked at Philippians 1:7-8, how sincere love demonstrates. Today, we look at verses 9-11. These verses are characteristic of Paul’s style, in his letters. Pretty much each of his letters has a section, in which he prays for the recipients. These prayers are very different from the prayers offered by most of us. Someone has said that the content of one’s prayers is indicative of the condition of one’s heart. Verse 9 begins with a recap of the subject of love, dealt with prior. Paul prays that the love of the Christians will abound – increase by great margins. But he adds an interesting twist to it, that…

Quarantine Epistles 12

Quarantine Epistles
Pastor Chris’ Corona Quarantine Epistles to the Flock of AIC Ngong Road, in Dispersion and Isolation. 12th Edition. Dear  Chosen People of the New Covenant,  Welcome to our 12th. Edition, which, of course, coincides with my 12th day in confinement. It feels like Paul’s house imprisonment in Rome, save for the absence of a guard (I wouldn’t consider my wife one). There’s another difference – whereas Paul saw the good in his situation, I – and I suspect you also, are trying to see the good or make it good. The failure to see God in any and every situation is indicative of our low sensitivity to him and his Spirit. Pray with me that I, and you also, will be more sensitive to his presence.Yesterday, we saw in Philippians…

Quarantine Epistles
Pastor Chris’ Corona Quarantine Epistles to the Flock of AIC Ngong Road, in Dispersion and Isolation. 11th Edition. Dear Saints, I trust you are well on this “Atheists’ Day”. Some of you may be wondering about that. It’s a joke I heard recently. An Atheist was arguing that they needed a holiday, just as Christians have Christmas and Easter, Jews have quite a few, Muslims have Idd and Hindus have Diwali. A young man shouted, “But you already have your holiday!” “I am not aware,” replied the Atheist, to which the young man responded, “It’s April 1st.” The atheist asked, “How so?” The young man replied, “The fool says in his heart, there is no God” (Psalm 14:1).Yesterday, we saw in Philippians 1:3-5, about cultivating an attitude of gratitude, and promoting…

Quarantine Epistles 10

Quarantine Epistles
Pastor Chris’ Corona Quarantine Epistles to the Flock of AIC Ngong Road, in Dispersion and Isolation. 10th. Edition. Dear beloved family,  Yesterday, we started a new series in Philippians. We saw Paul’s commitment to Christ as a bondservant in Chapter 1:1-2.  Today, we look at verses 3-5. In verse 3, he states that his every memory of the Philippians is one of gratitude. This is two way. We can choose our attitude. Someone said, “Cultivate an Attitude of Gratitude.” We can choose to be thankful, or we can choose to complain. Life metes out both good and bad. Whether we focus on the good and give thanks, or on the bad and complain, is up to us. Just remember, an attitude of gratitude will improve your health, relationships and work…

Quarantine Epistles 9

Quarantine Epistles
Pastor Chris’ Corona Quarantine Epistles to the Flock of AIC Ngong Road, in Dispersion and Isolation. 9th. Edition. Beloved People of the New Covenant, Having dispensed with Psalm 121, we begin a new series today in Paul’s Epistle to the church at Philippi. This is one of four letters Paul wrote from house imprisonment in Rome, the others being Ephesians, Colossians and Philemon. Called the epistle of Joy, this is the letter, of all the letters to the churches, in which Paul expresses affection and closeness to a congregation. The first two verses of chapter one are typical of Paul’s style. Letters those days started with the identification of the author, followed by the identification of the recipient(s). We note three key things in the 1st verse. 1. Paul includes Timothy in…

Quarantine Epistles 8

Quarantine Epistles
Pastor Chris’ Corona Quarantine Epistles to the Flock of AIC Ngong Road, in Dispersion and Isolation. 8th. Edition. Dearest Saints, For those of you who were able to be with us on the live service online – that was wonderful, wasn’t it? And Stephanie’s simple and poignant exposition of Romans 8:28-32 was timely. What insight! If you were not able to hear her, please make sure you listen to the posted version. You’ll not be disappointed. So, yesterday, we saw from Psalm 121:7 that the Lord will preserve us from all evil. We conclude the Psalm with verse 8. The first part reverts to the picture of a shepherd, that we saw earlier in verse 4. “The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in…” Imagine sheep in a pen.…
