History

Initially, the church was led by a number of missionary pastors. The first was Howard Berry, followed by Cameron “Cam” Arensen who later passed on the baton r to Julian Jackson.

AIC Ngong Road was officially founded in October 1976

AIC Ngong Road was officially founded in October 1976 by six (6) families famously known as “the founding families”. Their onerous trip to AIC Ziwani for the English service was time consuming leading to six families opting to meet in a different location. As they continued their pursuit for a permanent venue, other families joined them. We pay tribute to these families who were the building brick for what we have today.

These were the Ageng’o, Masyuko, Luusa, Maingi, Berry and Jackson families, that were later joined by the Muinde, Mulwa and Ndolo families. Their first meeting was held at Charles Ageng’os house in Lavington. Logistical challenges led to the church moving from Lavington to Postal Exchange, near Joseph Kang’ethe Road and then on to a place referred to as Unga Pavilion. Six months later, the group moved to Jamhuri Primary School for four months. The final stop, was the current location of the church, on Ndemi Road, off Ngong’ Road.

Initially, the church was led by a number of missionary pastors.

The first was Howard Berry, followed by Cameron “Cam” Arensen who later passed on the baton to Julian Jackson. In the year 1979, Joseph Musembi, who had served as a student pastor since 1976, took over. Pastor Musembi served for nearly 20 years, retiring in 1998 and went down in the annals of history as the longest serving pastor of AIC Ngong Road. The church experienced a significant rise in numbers from the initial six families, to approximately 500 people we have today. Today, the church has several active programmes, projects and ministries. Other areas of growth and developments include planting of five churches, formation of a strong choir and orchestra, creation of cell groups, a dynamic pastoral team and a vibrant Sunday School, among others.
